Summer Bowman is a junior animal science major at West Texas A&M University whose background in agriculture began growing up on a ranch in West Texas. That experience shaped her interest in both agricultural education and the role communication plays in helping the public better understand science and STEM careers.
Through her academic experiences, Summer has developed a strong appreciation for the importance of effective science communication, especially as it relates to agriculture and animal health. She is particularly interested in how the Science Influencers REEU program bridges the gap between students and professionals while providing hands-on experience in science communication. Mentored by Kylie Diaz, Summer hopes to apply these skills as she works toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian who not only serves animals but also advocates for agriculture through education and outreach.
