Aarathi Devakumar

Aarathi Devakumar is a sophomore mechatronics engineering (MXET) major at Texas A&M University with a minor in mathematics. Her academic and research interests center on robotics and automation, with particular attention to wearable robotics and human-centered engineering applications. She has been involved in robotics since middle school, beginning with VEX robotics through her Girl Scout troop, and has continued to explore design, programming, and systems integration across a range of projects.

Aarathi has conducted research and applied work in areas including wearable robotics, autonomous systems, and space robotics. She founded a research project within the Texas A&M University Robotics Team and Leadership Experience (TURTLE) focused on developing an automated wearable corset that integrates posture adjustment, motion sensing, and biomechanical feedback. She is also continuing work on an autonomous rural food and medication delivery system and conducting space robotics research under the mentorship of former astronaut Dr. Gregory Chamitoff. Mentored by Wei Li through the Science Influencers REEU program, Aarathi hopes to strengthen her science communication and outreach skills to effectively share technical ideas and advocate for greater representation of women and underrepresented groups in STEM fields.
