Maci Guay is a senior agricultural communications and journalism major whose work centers on communicating science in ways that are meaningful and understandable to the public. She currently serves as the student communications assistant at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL), where she translates research- and diagnostic-related topics for two distinct audiences: veterinarians and the general public. Through this role, she collaborates with scientists, technicians, and pathologists to convert technical expertise into clear, accessible messaging.
Maci’s experience at TVMDL has strengthened her interest in audience engagement and reinforced the importance of inclusive science communication, particularly in bridging the gap between laboratory science and public understanding. Upon graduation, she will transition into a communications specialist role at TVMDL. Through the Science Influencers REEU program, mentored by Mallory Pfeifer, Maci hopes to further develop her communication skills to effectively support both animal and human health through education and outreach.
