Yudi Sanchez

Yudi Sanchez is a senior bio-environmental science major at Texas A&M University with a minor in Biology. She is currently engaged in research in plant pathology and diagnostics, where she is working on developing molecular protocols to detect Bretziella fagacearum, the pathogen responsible for oak wilt. This research experience has strengthened her interest in biotechnology and the role diagnostic tools play in supporting environmental and human health.

Yudi plans to pursue graduate studies in biotechnology with a focus on human pathology, building on the molecular diagnostics skills she is developing through her current research. She is particularly interested in using social media and digital platforms as tools for education, helping make complex scientific topics more accessible and engaging for broader audiences. Through the Science Influencers REEU program, mentored by Hannah Ayala, Yudi hopes to strengthen her science communication skills and prepare for a career that bridges biotechnology research with public understanding and impact.
