Cintya Xiomara Medina Rangel is a senior biology major whose academic journey has shaped her interest in both scientific research and communication. As an international student from Mexico studying at Texas A&M International University, she pursued research opportunities across multiple disciplines, gaining experience in microbiology with Dr. Pathirana and in ecology with Dr. Vijayan. She continues to develop as a researcher under the mentorship of Dr. Ahmed, who currently serves as her principal investigator.
Through these research experiences, Cintya has developed a strong appreciation for the role communication plays in ensuring scientific findings are understood outside of academic settings. Her participation in the ABRCMS conference further emphasized the value of networking and community-building within science. In addition to research, she has held leadership roles focused on outreach and event coordination, including serving as Risk Manager for the Pre-Health Society and Event Coordinator for the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and AMSA. Through the Science Influencers REEU program, Cintya hopes to strengthen her ability to communicate science effectively and prepare for a future career as a physician who bridges research and community health.
