Daniel Kwong

Daniel Kwong is an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University majoring in plant and environmental soil science and horticulture, with a minor in ecology and conservation biology. His current research examines urban soils and how land-use change affects their physical, chemical, and biological properties. This work has strengthened his interest in making soil science and agricultural research more accessible to broader audiences, particularly within urban communities.

Daniel plans to pursue graduate studies in soil science or agronomy, with the goal of integrating research and science education. He is especially interested in outreach efforts that ensure research findings directly benefit communities, including underserved and lower socioeconomic urban areas like the community he grew up in. Through the Science Influencers REEU program, mentored by Felipe Aburto, Daniel hopes to strengthen his ability to communicate complex agricultural and environmental topics to diverse audiences while developing skills that support his long-term goal of becoming an educator and advocate in STEM fields.
