Marisol is interested in polymers and their biomedical, agricultural and environmental potential. Marisol is passionate about using naturally available resources to improve the lives of patients, consumers and future generations. Marisol believes that natural polymers are biodegradable and are derived from renewable sources such as microorganisms, plants and animals. When used for biomedical applications, they are versatile and cost-effective and contain good biocompatibility. Marisol is specifically interested in natural polymers, such as chitin and cellulose, because of their use in biomedical applications.
Marisol is part of the University Honors Undergraduate & Research Program (UHURP) at Texas A&M International University, where she is writing a publication on bone regeneration utilizing natural and synthetic polymers. Marisol’s research interests in polymers align with her passion for environmental conservation and medical applications.
