Sagar Patel is a freshman computer science major on the pre-medical pathway whose academic interests center on integrating technical skills with healthcare. In addition to computer science, he is interested in bioinformatics and computational biology and plans to apply these areas to address patient needs in future medical or STEM-related careers.
Sagar is currently a participant in Project SMART, where he has gained hands-on research experience that has deepened his understanding of scientific inquiry and real-world applications. This work has sparked his interest in science communication, particularly in translating complex ideas into accessible messages for broader audiences. Through the Science Influencers REEU program, Sagar hopes to strengthen his communication skills through digital media, outreach, and education, with an emphasis on engaging audiences who may not see themselves represented in STEM.
